🌱 Field Visit - Supporting Local Floriculture with Bio-Based Solutions

Today, researchers from the Institute of Fundamental and Applied Research (IFAR) visited the neighborhood, a community where the majority of residents rely on floriculture as their main source of income.

During the visit, local farmers explained that flower planting typically begins in September–October, with flowers ready for sale by May. However, a major challenge they face is the high rate of seedling loss, with up to 40–50% of plants affected by various diseases during the growth period.

In response to these concerns, our team introduced biofertilizers developed by IFAR, offering samples for trial use and providing practical recommendations on application methods. These eco-friendly solutions are designed to both protect plants from diseases and stimulate faster growth.

Preliminary insights suggest that, with proper stimulation and protection, it may be possible to reduce the growing period from 8 months to just 5 months, significantly improving productivity and economic return for local growers.

The visit concluded with mutual agreement to initiate collaborative trials, and several flower samples were collected for further laboratory analysis. The farmers expressed strong interest in partnering with our institute for future applications of sustainable agricultural technologies.

This field visit reflects IFAR's ongoing commitment to applying science and innovation to support Uzbekistan's agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of our local communities.
